Dr. Meredith Hodges, Chiropractorstudied chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto for 4 years, graduating in the class of 2009. During the course of her education she also studied Contemporary Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University. Her interest in health and wellness led her to study sport specific personal training attaining CSCS (Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist) certification and become an Active Release Technique provider. She believes that physical activity is the key to the prevention of illness. Dr. Hodges studied Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University attaining a Degree in Honours Kinesiology, graduating in the class of 2005. Her passion for health and wellness has been ingrained in her roots. Growing up, Dr. Hodges was raised in an active, health conscious family. Dr. Hodges competed in swimming, ski racing and paddling. Dr. Hodges uses customized and individualized treatment plans specific to each individuals needs. Her approch is very different from what most people perceive as chiropractic care. After a chronic 4 year running related injury, it was acombination of Active Release Technique, Chiropractic and Medical Acupuncture that proved to be successful in treating her injury. This injury shaped the way that she practices today. Dr. Hodges uses a combination of techniques including ART, chiropractic, medical acupuncture and corrective exercises in each individualized treatment plan.
Dr. Donata Girolamo, Naturopath h.B.A., N.D. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an honours Bachelor of Arts degree, Donata then pursued her passion for holistic medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, becoming a licensed and registered Naturopathic Doctor.
Donata maintains a large family practice, with a special interest in anxiety, immune, fertility, and hormones. Her mission is to optimize your health care by combining evidence-based medicine with the art and wisdom of traditional medicine. To address your health concerns, she uses
acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, nutrition and lifestyle counselling.
She maintains inspired through continuing education, and has extensive training in homeopathy, auricular medicine, and medical intuition. She has additional certification in First Line Therapy, a lifestyle program for weight loss and chronic disease prevention and treatment. Due to her interest in the link between mind, body and spirit, Donata has taken intensive courses in Vipassana and Mindfulness meditation.
She is certified by the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy Naturopathy and an active member of The Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors. She is a regular contributor to Health Wellness and Safety magazine, and has written for Canadian Health and Lifestyle. She is a guest speaker at Niagara College, teaching stress management with meditation.
Amanda Materno, RMT studied at the Ontario College of Health and Technology in the Massage Therapy Program, graduating in the class of 2011.Amanda is excited to be a part of the Dalhousie Health and Wellness team as Registered Massage Therapist and to add her skill set to the clinic. She specializes in relaxation, therapeutic, deep tissue and pregnancy massage as well as trigger point therapy and fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome. She is looking forward in expanding her knowledge and continuing education in her field. Amanda strives to work with each individual to obtain a treatment plan to benefit their exact needs. She believes that clean eating and physical activity are the key to a healthy lifestyle and well being.
Rachel Evans, Secretary was born and raised in Peterborough,Ontario. In 2001, she moved to the Niagara Region to further her studies at Niagara College. After 3 years of study, she graduated with a double diploma in International Business and Business Administration. Rachel’s education and past work experience, within a variety of different business and medical firms, has provided her with the skills to run a smooth office. Rachel is a key element to the overall flow at DHW.
Marley, K-9 Chiropractic Assistant Marley is a gentle and friendly 4 year old female boxer. She specializes in greeting patients at the door and loves making new friends. She is the best k-9 assistant we could ask for and the DHW team wouldn't be complete without her!
